About Me

Dr Francesca Sawer; BSc Hons, DClinPsych, CPsychol

Hi I'm Francesca

I am a chartered clinical psychologist dedicated to supporting you manage your mental health and emotional wellbeing. My passion is to help you learn more about yourself, in order to empower and equip you with skills, tools, strategies and insights to manage your mental health, find more enjoyment in life and gain confidence in navigating life's challenges.

By day, I am a senior clinical psychologist working in the NHS. Over the past 8 years I have gathered a wealth of experience working with children, adults and families, working in a neurodevelopmental service at The Maudsley Hospital and leading a specialist psychology team in paediatric allergy at The Evelina Children's Hospital. I currently hold roles at St Bart's Hospital where I lead on managing staff support and family liaison for acute critical care services, in addition to working in a large psychology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital specialising in the assessment and support of children with a range of health conditions, neurodevelopmental conditions and neuro disability.

I pride myself on being a warm, creative and enthusiastic clinician and I am able to offer psychological talking therapy for adults, children, teenagers and families. My commitment to you is that therapy is tailored to meet your personal need. By understanding your unique experiences and how this may drive current thinking and behaviours we can then make a plan for working towards meaningful change in the areas that are important to you. I have creative and fun ways of engaging children and helping to make therapy accessible for all ages.

Research shows us that the strength of the relationship with your therapist is one of the best predicators of successful outcome, therefore it is important that I create a space which helps you feel safe to do this. I don't believe in committing you to any set number of sessions, I feel it is important that you have what is right for you, be this a few consultations, a block of therapy or longer-term support. I am therefore flexible in being able to offer you what is needed. I am guided be the latest evidence base and draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches which include cognitive behavioural, interpersonal, systemic and narrative approaches.
